On September 9, 2018, 99 Cents Only Stores made history at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena during its annual “9/9 Day” celebration by setting a Guinness World Record for the Largest packaged product number — creating an 18,200 sq ft “99” composed of over 12,000 packaged items. A Guinness adjudicator verified the feat on site, and all products (about $20,000 worth) were donated to local charities including the LA Food Bank, School on Wheels, Alleviate Skid Row, the Boys & Girls Club and Goodwill Southern California.
